CLINICAL INTERNSHIPS
ACT for Mental Health offers internship field placement opportunities for master-level students (MFT, MSW, MACC) to develop clinical skills and to support student's goals in the context of their field placement requirements.
The responsibilities of the practicum students as designed by ACT for Mental Health to complete the practicum requirement include:
​ Direct service activities:

Administrative duties and initial client contact

Conduct Intakes & Biopsychosocial Assessments

Individual Counseling
-
Family Counseling
-
Couples Counseling
-
Co-facilitate Parenting, Co-Parenting and/or Anger Management classes
-
Set up client support groups

​ Indirect service activities: ​

Professional development (attending inhouse or external workshops)
-
Didactic training
-
Weekly individual supervision
-
Monthly group supervision with interns and associates
-
Clinical notes and paperwork
-
Attend staff meetings
-
Attend case conferences
-
Possibility of doing research work to support programs provided by the agency

Advocacy by way of writing letters for clients for court, probation officers, minors counsel, etc.

ACT for Mental Health is committed to provide the hours of training as specified by your curriculum with clinical supervision hours by a licensed and trained supervisor.

Practicum students will also be mentored by other clinical staff with expertise in various areas of clinical and non-clinical work, appropriate to the student’s interests and professional requirements.

In addition, trainees are expected to attend monthly staff meeting and participate in case conferences with the senior staff which typically occur monthly or bi-monthly.
